Portrait – Manslaughter Project

I have known Manslaughter Project for quite a while. I shot and edited a live video of them a few years ago, when they had finished second place of 2nd Skin Rock Contest (second edition). That’s quite a few time the word second in the same sentence. They contacted me at the end of 2010 for a promotional shooting and we finaly got to do it two weeks ago.

These guys were litteraly freezing.

This is in the corner of a mall parking, but it is not heated. The temperature was -1 ˚ C or so. So it meant shooting fast. The guys were very enthusiastic about the shoot, so it did not bother them to suffer a bit from the freezing. Key light comes from a 580 EXII in a beauty dish and fill/kicker is two 430 EXII in reflectives umbrellas.

I am getting more and more comfortable with color grading in Photoshop, which resulted in this green look for these pictures. I usually color my lights directly on set, but since my light setup was bouncing everywhere, I decided to go with more post production on this set. Individual portrait were lit mostly the same way as the band portraits.

The guys were a real pleasure to work with. We’ll probably do another shoot together this year, but something more conceptual. Stay tuned.
